True ByPass

Come riconoscere un pedale True-Bypass?
Se non abbiamo un’indicazione del costruttore, oppure vogliamo verificare di persona, possiamo utilizzare vari sistemi, tutti comunque piuttosto validi.
Il primo prevede lo smontaggio del nostro pedale, seguendo i collegamenti dall’ingresso all’uscita. Spesso la presenza di un selettore a nove pin (tre vie) è già una garanzia.
Il secondo prevede la lettura dell’eventuale schema elettrico, da parte di una persona competente, che darà conferma del collegamento adottato.
Un sistema empirico, comunemente adottato, (che io non condivido) prevede di togliere qualsiasi forma d’alimentazione al pedale, la batteria interna e l’alimentatore, provando se il suono a pedale spento raggiunga comunque l’uscita.

Ma questo sistema non ci dà la sicurezza di trovarci con un true-bypass, in quanto tra l’ingresso e la massa potrebbe trovarsi una resistenza e/o un condensatore, responsabili di un taglio delle alte frequenze non verificabili con un confronto diretto in quanto il secondo cavo necessario all’uso del pedale taglierebbe ulteriormente le alte frequenze. L’unica certezza che si ha, quando il segnale non raggiunge l’uscita, è di trovarsi con un pedale dotato di buffer.
Per puro esempio, i pedali Boss al suo interno hanno sempre un buffer attivo..
Attenzione però, non sempre questo può voler dire "scarsa qualità".
Diciamo piuttosto che un pedale Bufferizzato, ha il vantaggio / svantaggio di processare il segnale del nostro strumento.
 
La soluzione comunque ottimale che IO preferisco, è un Buffer ad inizio catena, salvo eccezioni (esempio se si utilizza un Wah lo consiglio sempre dopo).
Questo piccolo circuito, in realtà semplicissimo, ci garantisce la costante di impedenza da inizio a fine catena, preservando così il segnale fino all'amplificatore.
Voglio precisare però che ogni catena, essendo spesso unica, ha bisogno di una propria analisi e pertanto in caso di perdite di segnale (spesso in termini sonori di armoniche e frequenze) non è detto che questo circuito ci risolva il problema.
Spesso mi sono ritrovato catene effetti dove il responsabile di una perdita era un singolo pedale oppure 2 pedali che in sequenza risultavano incompatibili.
 
 


Cos’è un Buffer?
È un circuito elettronico dotato di assoluta trasparenza, ovvero, ha la caratteristica di non amplificare o attenuare il segnale e di avere una banda passante - cioè la gamma di frequenze - estremamente ampia. Il segnale, anche a pedale disattivato, attraversa uno stadio d’amplificazione, che quindi necessita d’alimentazione. Spesso è più complesso realizzare uno stadio d’amplificazione non lineare, per cui contrariamente a ciò che si crede la maggiorparte dei buffer sono trasparenti.
